The book industry milestone event, Frankfurt Book Fair, brings together thousands of book sector professionals for business, networking, and market insights opportunities every year.

The RISE Bookselling programme is offering booksellers, who stock foreign-language titles in their bookshops and are interested in learning more about the German book market and publishing industry, an opportunity to experience this great event firsthand.

Taking place between 19 and 23 October 2022, under the motto ‘Translate. Transfer. Transform’, and with Spain as guest of honour, the 74th Frankfurter Buchmesse focuses on international dialogue and how the latter can bring about exchanges across borders and cultures. The participants can expect to gain concrete insights into the German book market through thematic seminars on topics such as the German publishing landscape or distribution and bookselling system. We will also provide booksellers with ample networking opportunities, enabling them to exchange views and ideas with their fellow participants, as well as with participants of the Frankfurt Book Fair's other initiatives.

All activities within the programme will be held in English.

When and where will the event take place?

Between 17 and 21 October 2022, during the Frankfurt Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany.

More information and how to apply

Through the RISE Bookselling programme, we help booksellers of all kinds to participate in international training and networking opportunities. We enable booksellers, who are members of one of the network organisations, to join their colleagues and participate in a dedicated programme, developed in partnership with the event organisers.

Following a successful application, applicants will be offered a place to participate in selected international sector event. Following the event, participants will have to provide an overview of activities report to the coordinator. They will also be expected to participate in RISE promotional opportunities following the event, which can include, among others, sharing quotes, blog posts and multimedia from the event on RISE website and social media channels, as well as providing feedback on the event.

Through this agreement, the coordinator will cover travel costs for the participants between their home and event location, and accommodation costs for the duration of the programme.
