The seventh edition of the Rencontres nationales de la librairie (RNL), organized by Syndicat de la
librairie française (SLF), will take place on 16-17 June 2024 at the Palais de la musique et
des congrès in Strasbourg, France, spotlighting Strasbourg's status of the UNESCO World Book Capital 2024.
The aim of the RNL is to allow booksellers to meet in an informal setting and exchange views with other professionals in the book trade, authors, publishers, librarians, distributors, and representatives of the public sector.

The 7th edition of the event will feature research presentations, panel discussions on the future of the bookselling profession, specialized workshops, and numerous networking opportunities. The economics of bookshops, sustainability in the book sector, the impact of artificial intelligence, second-hand books, or young people's attitudes towards reading are among the many topics that will be discussed.

The event will be held in French, therefore it is crucial that the attendees have a sufficient level of French to be able to follow the programme.

Apply before 14 May (23:59 CEST) and get a chance to attend!

When and where will the event take place?

More information and how to apply

Through the RISE Bookselling programme, we help booksellers of all kinds to participate in international training and networking opportunities. We enable booksellers, who are members of one of the network organisations, to join their colleagues and participate in a dedicated programme, developed in partnership with the event organisers.

Following a successful application, applicants will be offered a place to participate in selected international sector event. Following the event, participants will have to provide an overview of activities report to the coordinator. They will also be expected to participate in RISE promotional opportunities following the event, which can include, among others, sharing quotes, blog posts and multimedia from the event on RISE website and social media channels, as well as providing feedback on the event.

Through this agreement, the coordinator will cover travel costs for the participants between their home and event location, and accommodation costs for the duration of the programme.

The conference will be held in French and applicants must be able to follow the programme in this language.
